Marc is a strategic-commercial energy transition thought leader. He serves as a Non-Executive Director of AES Clean Energy, one of North America’s largest and fastest-growing renewables companies, and as a Non-Executive Director of NeXtWind, Germany’s leading wind repowering company, on behalf of Canadian Pension Funds. Marc is also a Member of the Global Investment Committee and Global Commercial Advisor at Fortescue, a leading hydrogen project developer.
Previously, Marc was Global Vice President of Shell New Energies, where he built a 4GW renewable power business in wind, solar, and storage through strategic investments and acquisitions. He also served as President of Shell New Energies USA and oversaw the implementation of renewable projects within Shell's operations.
Before Shell, Marc held senior executive roles at First Solar, including Regional Executive, EMEA, where he led the development and execution of global accounts sales strategies and incubated new business models. As CEO of Q-Cells North America, he established a turnkey solar power plant business, and as a founding member of Solaria, he helped spin out Nextracker, the leading global solar tracking company.
Earlier in his career, Marc was involved in developing large-scale geothermal power projects with Chevron Geothermal and led an Upstream Oil & Gas business segment at GE. He also provides pro-bono advisory to energy access companies in Africa and holds extensive board and governance experience with various renewables companies.
Marc holds a PhD in Geothermal Resource Chemistry and an MSc in Geology.
