Breshanday Barlas joined the NeXtWind team as the Grid Connection Manager, where he is tasked with overseeing the grid connection strategy for wind farms. In this capacity, he acts as the primary liaison for all matters related to grid connections and facilitates coordination among both internal stakeholders (including investment, project management, finance, and executive management) and external parties (such as grid operators, grid planners, wind turbine manufacturers, and component suppliers).
With more than a decade of experience in the wind energy sector, Breshanday Barlas offers significant expertise gained from diverse roles in service, onshore operations, sales, and project management at Siemens Gamesa, where he cultivated his leadership skills. In his latest positions at Siemens Gamesa, he managed global and regional teams dedicated to the electrical design and grid connection of wind turbines and wind farms, contributing significantly to the expansion of new onshore markets. He possesses extensive experience in engaging with customers, system suppliers, grid operators, grid planners, and certifiers. As a specialist in grid connection, Breshanday Barlas has comprehensive knowledge of grid connection regulations (NC RFG 1.0/2.0, VDE-AR-N), the FGW-TR3/4/8 standards, and the certification processes for wind turbines.
Breshanday Barlas spent his childhood years in Kabul, Afghanistan. He was awarded a scholarship to the University of Duisburg-Essen, where he obtained a Master’s degree in Electrical and Information Engineering, specializing in Electrical Power Engineering. In his leisure time, he volunteers with Afghanic e.V., enjoys hiking in the Alps, and is an avid chess player and photographer.
