NeXtWind wins PFI “Power Deal of the Year”

setting a benchmark for scalable, platform-based financing of the energy transition

Berlin / London, 19 February 2026 - NeXtWind today received the PFI Award in the category “Power Deal of the Year” at the official award ceremony in London. The award is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious distinctions in international project and infrastructure finance and serves as a benchmark for structural quality, innovation and market relevance.

The jury recognised a financing structure that moves beyond traditional single-project financings and establishes a platform approach designed for scale. The award highlights NeXtWind’s ability to combine long-term institutional capital with a robust governance and risk framework, enabling the systematic execution of repowering projects in Germany’s onshore wind market.

“The energy transition will not be decided by ambition alone, but by our ability to translate regulatory progress into deliverable capacity at an industrial scale,” says Lars Meyer, Co-CEO of NeXtWind. “Financing structures are central to this challenge. They determine whether projects remain fragmented or can be efficiently scaled.”

The awarded structure exemplifies the shift from single-project financings towards scalable platform structures that align capital deployment, operational execution and regulatory certainty. By bundling repowering projects and leveraging existing infrastructure such as grid connections and permitted sites, the model improves bankability, reduces risk and accelerates implementation.

The award comes at a time when Germany’s energy transition is increasingly moving into the execution phase, where scale, speed and reliability are becoming decisive factors. Unlocking this potential requires financing models that are designed for long-term scalability and institutional investment.

Rather than honouring a single transaction, the PFI Award recognises financing approaches that shape markets and enable the next phase of execution. Within the industry, the PFI Awards are widely regarded as a central reference point in international project finance.

About NeXtWind

NeXtWind is a Berlin- and London-based renewable energy company focused on repowering onshore wind farms and developing integrated Clean Energy Hubs. Since its founding in 2020, the company has built a portfolio of 37 wind farms with around 500 MW of installed capacity and a repowering development portfolio of more than 1.9 GW currently in permitting and construction. By 2028, NeXtWind aims to increase its generation capacity to over 3 GW, primarily by modernising existing sites with higher-capacity turbines.

NeXtWind’s strategy combines wind repowering with solar PV and storage solutions, creating scalable, standardised projects that deliver efficiency gains, ensure supply security and enable international refinancing. This integrated model lays the foundation for a new generation of decentralised energy infrastructure across Germany and, in the longer term, Europe.

With strong financial backing of USD 750 million in equity commitments from investors including Sandbrook Capital, PSP Investments and IMCO, and a recently secured €1.8 billion syndicated platform financing, NeXtWind is well-positioned to become a leading partner in advancing Germany’s energy transition and shaping the institutionalisation of the renewables sector.
