Dr. Sven Hansen is the Chairman of the Board and the Investment Committee of NeXtWind Capital Ltd..
He has a track record of over 30 years in investment banking and private equity with a focus on environmental risk management and investments in over 50 companies in the clean tech space with four IPOs and numerous trade exits.
Since 2000 Mr. Hansen has assisted in building 8 investment firms in the clean tech space in the roles of Managing Partner, CEO, CIO, Venture Partner and Chairman of the Board. These companies invested in the clean tech sectors in Europe, North America, Latin America, Africa, India, China, Taiwan, Japan and Vietnam.
Mr. Hansen has gained substantial corporate development and governance experience at board level in start-up and growth companies, both listed and private, and also assists with mediations and restructurings.
Previously, he was the Chief Financial Officer for Intels Group, a leading energy logistics group on the African continent.
In the first 10 years of his professional career, Mr. Hansen held various functions within UBS, the leading Swiss Bank. He was responsible for the development and implementation of UBS's global environmental policy and risk assessment systems and Global Head of Environmental Risk Management for UBS Group. As former Executive Director for UBS in New York and London, he originated structured finance transactions in Sub Sahara Africa in the energy, mining and banking industries.
Mr. Hansen studied economics at the Universities of St. Gallen and Basle. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of St. Gallen on environmental risk management in the financial sector.
